Discussion What hosting do you use for Laravel projects?

I'm moving a few client projects off a shared host. Most are Laravel 11/12 with MySQL and a queue worker.

What are you all using in 2026? Shared hosting, VPS, or something managed? Budget matters — these are small business clients.

For small clients a good shared plan with SSH and PHP 8.3+ is enough. I run several on DOMAINSROCK hosting — cron works, and you can pick the PHP version per domain.

If you need a real queue worker running 24/7, go for a small VPS. Otherwise use the database queue and run php artisan schedule:run from cron every minute.

@VikramR does the cron use the same PHP version as the site? I got bitten by that before.

Use the full path of the PHP binary in the cron line, for example:
Code
* * * * * /usr/local/bin/php83 /home/user/app/artisan schedule:run >> /dev/null 2>&1

Then it always matches.
